Animal Farm: Chapters 6 and 7

The animals have to work in extreme levels to get enough food for themselves as well as stone for the project of the windmill, which has been decided to be Napoleon’s idea from the beginning. Boxer proves to be the hardest worker of the farm, even waking up earlier and earlier to help the others. Napoleon hires Mr. Whymper to help by getting them the materials they need in order to keep production of the windmill, such as nails and cables. The pigs begin to live in the house and sleep in the human’s beds, but adjust the commandment to fit. A great storm hits and topples the windmill, to which Snowball is blamed for sabotage.

The winter is hard and the food supplies are low. The animals try to keep the appearance of great food supply while also rebuilding the windmill. To allow for the supply of food and materials for the windmill Napoleon decides to sell eggs, to which the animals are shocked and the hens rebel. After several hens die the rebellion ends and the eggs continue to sell. Soon after Napoleon has the animals rounded up and certain animals are called to have been helping Snowball, to which the dogs tear out their throats. The dogs attack then without orders and kill many animals. Lastly Napoleon outlaws “Beasts of England” (the song sung by old Major) and institutes a new song that is much less powerful but still slightly effective.
