Animal Farm: Chapters 1 and 2

Animal Farm Begins with Mr. Jones drunkenly stumbling his way into bed. Once he is asleep the animals congregate for a special meeting held by Old Major. The meeting is about his special dream, which turns out to be about both a song for the animals to learn as well as a belief that one day animals will rule over the humans, and they must be ready and prepare. The meeting is cut short because the animal’s singing convinced Mr. Jones thinking there were wild animals in the barn causing a stir, and in reaction taking a shot towards the barn to scare them away.

After Old Major dies the animals start to form the ideas of Animalism, with many rules and a basic philosophy that was initially too difficult for many animals to understand, so it is simplified into seven basic rules. The rebellion against humans happen once some of the animals break into the store shed to eat food, because Mr. Jones was drinking and let his men become lazy. The men see the cows eating the food and begin to whip them, but the animals decide to fight back and eventually drive Mr. Jones and his men away from the farm. “Manor Farm” becomes “Animal Farm”, and the ways of the human are basically outlawed.
